Project summary
To better prepare the country for the increasingly critical management of droughts in the near future, the study aimed to develop a program considering i) the capacity-building needs of ministries involved in groundwater management, ii) the lack of studies regarding the impact of climate change on groundwater resources, and iii) the relevance of planning tools for groundwater exploitation in the medium and long terms (2050 and 2080) to cope with the increasing water demand and the impact of climate change.
Tasks carried out by Ecoresil
Assessment and forecast of water need for human consumption, education, health facilities, irrigation, and livestock.
Prioritization of intervention zones based on water shortage risk assessment.
Construction of investment and maintenance costs functions for groundwater mobilization.
Comparison and planning of water resource development strategies based on a multi-criteria spatial approach.
